Flower Child

Happy Wednesday everybody! I recently made a trip to the Grove and purchased this floral bustier top at the brand new Topshop, it's so pretty. As for the skirt, I made it! Since it's spring break, I've had more time on my hands, so I decided to use some of my mom's extra fabric and make a simple lace maxi skirt, a must-have for this season in my opinion. I've also gotten into a flower frenzy and I made a bunch of flower crowns, which I've been seeing a lot of recently. Anyway, this is my perfect spring look; I'm obsessed with it. Enjoy!

A Day in the Life...

Hey guys!! Yesterday Em and I went to the Melrose Trading Post and bought a few things we thought we'd share. I purchased this green plaid dress because it fit me like a glove, it might as well have been custom made, and I got these sunglasses that we later realized are the exact same pair as Em's ombre ones from our earlier post. I also scored some cool jewelry and we got matching vintage frames. But the coolest find, in my opinion (my mom thinks it's weird), were these old pictures. There were literally piles and piles of antique pictures of random people. Some of them date back to the 1930's! And some of them had writing on the back that said when the picture was taken and a little story about the people in the picture. Em and I were obsessed! It sounds so strange, but I love them. If you ever get the chance, hit up your local flea markets! They're a lot of fun and you never know what kind of cool stuff you'll find.

The top right says: "This was taken last Sunday at Audrey's. The twins don't even look alike do they? They certainly are cute. Earl doesn't look like he was ever sick does he? He's so big and Audrey is so little."
I think that's crazy cool...

Seeing Spots

Hello everyone! For today's look we incorporated two trends into the outfit: The first is black and white. Black and white is a win because it's so easy...everyone has something black and something white! All you need to do is pair them together, and bam! you're stylish. A fun way to spice up this trend is to throw in some fun prints, like we did with the polka dot top. The second trend is the bralette, particularly paired with a high-waisted skirt. We're fans of the bralette trend because it's so feminine and summery. And just to be clear we're not talking about lacy lingere-like bralettes. Lacy bralettes are cute, but only when styled the right way, like under loose shirts or dresses. We're also obsessed with this purse, and it was only 25$ from H&M! Altogether, this look is pretty straightforward and simple, but also new and chic. Enjoy!

P.S. We're going to start trying to post every Sunday and Wednesday! Hopefully our schedules will allow that! See ya Sunday :)

Hint of Lime

Today was a stunning day in Santa Monica, so we packed our bags and found a random alley for a change of scenery. Since it was 8:30 am (wayyy too early for a Sunday, but it was worth it), the lighting was superb, which was quite a pleasant surprise since we struggle with it a lot. On to the clothing...Yesterday I went shopping, which was really exciting for me considering I've been cooped up in the auditorium every weekend for the past month or so. I picked up this dress from American Eagle, the color makes me so happy! Plus, I've been seeing a lot of cutouts lately, and I have to say, I'm a fan. I bought the hat at Forever 21, and I can already tell it's going to be a key accessory this spring/summer. The shoes and jewelry are Em's, and we're obsessed with her chunky ombré sunglasses too. Anyway, we are SO excited for winter to fade into spring, and for both our wardrobes to be infused with a little bit of color, or a lot... Happy Sunday!

Justin Carr Wants World Peace.

Justin Carr was a friend of ours who died from heart failure at the age of 16 while he was at swim practice on February 22, 2013, two Fridays ago. He was a singer, an actor, a dancer, a swimmer, a leader, an architect and much, much more. Justin was supposed to perform in the dance show I (Krista) had been working on, but he died a week before the show. We dedicated the show to him and it was truly one of the most amazing, emotional, and intense experiences of my life. I was also in art class with him. Justin was an amazing artist and I was always so jealous of his work. He is truly one of the most talented and hard working people I have ever met. He was also the guy who could make anybody laugh and who always had a smile ready for anyone who needed it. His friendliness and kindness reached so many people. The fact that there were over 1,000 people at his funeral should be proof enough of how many people were affected by him. His parents are some of the strongest people I have ever met; please keep them in your prayers.

Three years ago, on the same day (last Friday of February) our close friend Julia Siegler was killed in a car accident. As an 8th grader, I was traumatized, and I still am. Now, as a junior, experiencing a sudden and devastating loss once again, I have found myself looking at it differently. Julia was killed; her life was cut short and I will never understand how that is fair. Justin, on the other hand, had an incredibly weak heart his entire life. I find this ironic because in my opinion he had the biggest heart of anyone I know. The doctors said it was a miracle he lived as long as he did. Although he probably had an amazing future ahead of him, what Justin did with his life is wonderful and admirable. So, even though I am shocked by his passing, I know that in the short time he had, he used every minute of it for something good and something productive, and that makes me happy in this time of sorrow. Times like these also make me reflect on my life and what I've done with my time. If there's anything I've learned from Justin, it's to smile at everyone, be yourself, and don't waste a minute on anything that isn't worth your time.

In honor of Justin, his father, Darrell Carr, wants us to spread Justin's kindness in working towards world peace, something Justin dreamed about.  Justin was a sensational human being and he deserves this. With Justin and Julia in our hearts, together we can work towards world peace.
This is a movement. Spread the word.
Justin Carr wants world peace.
